NAU Conservatives Taking a Swing at Socialism!

By Richelle Morin

On Monday November 9, 2009 the NAU Conservatives
happily celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the fall of the
Berlin Wall. A mock wall was created using sheet rock and
decorated by the NAU Conservatives. Students also
made contributions to the wall. The wall placed in the
ped-way (sidewalk) to obstruct students on their way to
and from classes to symbolize the intrusive barrier that
blocked East Germany from the rest of the world.
Some students were glad to see that the day was being
celebrated. Two girls from Russian told the NAU that life
has been much better for everyone since the fall of the
wall and the USSR. Other students were not as enthusiastic
to see the NAU Conservatives exercising theirs rights
to peacefully assemble or freedom of speech but were quick
in their defense of Communism -- strange-- yes unexpected--no.
NAU, like many other colleges, has a distinct leftist point
of view that is promoted in the classroom and in the student body.
