Yesterday was April 15th also know to many Americans as tax day, and in its duration thousands of people nation wide turned out to protest three significant issues: big government, high taxes (or future increases), and how the government is spending our hard earned money.
I am proud to say that NAU Conservatives and many of our fellow Flagstaff residents took up our flags and posters at the City Hall lawn in disapproval of our government’s recent actions. The protest that took place from 4pm-6pm turned out to be a success, and many people drove by in the setting sun honking their horns and waving in agreement. While at the protest, some passersby reacted in vulgar demonstrations such as throwing the finger, yelling at us, and one person even lacked enough self-respect to drive by and moon the tea partiers.
As conservatives we value personal responsibility and respect for others, so no such actions took place in retaliation to the angry dissenters. We understand that in America it is our Constitutional right to voice our opinion and for others to do the same. We value that right and expect everyone else to do the same even if it means that we must tolerate insulting opposition. However, one annoyed opponent’s opinion that should have been encouraging all Americans to voice their concerns put our movement and its message down.
President Obama stated on Thursday, “I have been amused a little over the past couple of days where people have been having these rallies about taxes. You would think they would be saying ‘thank you.’ That’s what you’d think.” What should we be thanking him for: the bail out of big banks and failed corporations, for introducing a healthcare bill we cannot afford, or for ignoring the concerns of countless Americans who want nothing more than for their children to inherit the country where anyone can achieve success that they grew up in? It seems the President threw his view out there to belittle and discourage the tea partiers across the country simply because we do not agree with his policies. These remarks only serve to divide our people not further bi-partisanship that Obama adamantly advocated for.
The one person who should be applauding our courageous patriot like actions should be our President, even if they are in opposition to his platform, because he is not just working for the democrats. Obama is President of the United States of America. We are a united country and he needs to acknowledge this. He should represent and advocate for everyone not just those that agree with him. Bi-partisanship begins with you Mr. President.
To all of the patriots across America that took up their flags and banners in protest on tax day, I applaud you for your courageous actions. Congress and the President will have to listen soon, even if we have to wait until November to significantly get our point across. Keep up the hard work for the cause. The future of your children, grandchildren, and the future of the United States of America are in your hands.

YAF Leadership Conference... More Pictures coming soon!

Last weekend Stephanee, Amberlee and Shelly left Flagstaff
at 3 A.M, (yes A.M.) to make the nine plus hour trip to
the Young Americas Foundation West Coast Leadership
Conference in beautiful Santa Barbra, Calf.
The trip included a revealing game of 20
Questions, arguments with a malfunctioning Garmin,
several interesting but unintentional detours and
the running over of already-ran-over coyote road kill.
And that was just the road trip!
At the actual conference the the girls had the
opportunity to meet and take photographs with
Governor Mitt Romney and his lovely wife Ann.
National Review contributor Victor Davis Hanson spoke
along with Andrew Breitbart from breitbart.co. Also,
ACORN scandal sensation Hannah Giles gave the
students advice to combat liberalism encouraging
young conservatives to,"Attack, attack, attack!".
The speakers were motivating and informative,
especially given the opportunity to meet Mitt Romney,
but the highlight of the trip was the visit to the
Western White House. The NAU Conservatives
traveled with YAF to the Reagan Ranch and toured
the house, tack barn and Secret Service station.
Congressman Joe (You lie!) Wilson spoke at the ranch and
there was also a panel discussion where
the NAU Conservatives learned a new word:
Obamagasm- which urbandictionary.com defines as:
"The peak of excitement that occurs when Obama does
anything good, characterized by strong feelings
of pleasure, usually accompanied by celebration.
Occasionally results in college students
(CENSORED)... in their trousers at
the sight of Obama winning a campaign."

NAU Conservatives Taking a Swing at Socialism!

On Monday November 9, 2009 the NAU Conservatives
happily celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the fall of the
Berlin Wall. A mock wall was created using sheet rock and
decorated by the NAU Conservatives. Students also
made contributions to the wall. The wall placed in the
ped-way (sidewalk) to obstruct students on their way to
and from classes to symbolize the intrusive barrier that
blocked East Germany from the rest of the world.
Some students were glad to see that the day was being
celebrated. Two girls from Russian told the NAU that life
has been much better for everyone since the fall of the
wall and the USSR. Other students were not as enthusiastic
to see the NAU Conservatives exercising theirs rights
to peacefully assemble or freedom of speech but were quick
in their defense of Communism -- strange-- yes unexpected--no.
NAU, like many other colleges, has a distinct leftist point
of view that is promoted in the classroom and in the student body.

NAU Conservatives Big Pimpin'
pimp and ho to bring awareness to the ACORN scandal--
wait which one you ask? The the one where ACORN was
assisting a prostitute and pimp secure a home loan so they
could pimp out underage illegal El Salvadorian girls or the
scandal involving dead people and the Dallas Cowboys
registering to vote? Well the answer dear friend is both.
Two NAU Conservatives dressed as a pimp and ho and
ran around north campus and handed out acorns to
students who "caught" them. Students would turn the
acorns in for a chance to win $50 dollars or one of five
great conservative books graciously donated by
Campus Reform.

Not Evil Just Wrong No-- Evil and Wrong
By Richelle Morin
10/23/2009
On October 22nd the NAU Conservatives screened the new
documentary Not Evil Just Wrong directed by Irish film makers
Phelim McAleer & Ann McElhinney. Over 70 students were at the
screening and news of the event was even picked up by NAZ Today.
You can visit the website at: http://www.noteviljustwrong.com/home
The documentary rebuked several of Al Gore's foundational claims
of "Global Warming." Those included the infamous "hockey stick"
chart that illustrated a jump in global temperatures in recent
decades, that sea levels would rise up to 20 feet and that polar
bears are going extinct, when in fact they are not.
The movie attempted to show the human cost of alarmist science,
the needless deaths of tens of millions as a result of the banning
of the chemical pesticide DDT, mainly in Africa.

No More Che Day
On October 9th we, the proud and provocative NAU Conservatives, celebrated No More Che Day. We handed out posters and fliers from the Young America's Foundation and spoke to students on the pedway. The posters we handed out showed the infamous beret donning portrait of Che; his face was recreated by using a collage of the pictures of his victims. Most NAU students were receptive of the real face of Che. Many openly acknowledged that they knew little about the guy aside from the fact that his face was a commonly seen on T-shirts and that he was from South America. We were more than happy to reveal the real face of Che.
For more information on Che Guevara visit the YAF website featuring a great clip by Cuban American author and columnist Humberto Fontova titled "Che Guevara and the Useful Idiots who Idolize Him." I highly recommend checking it out... and who knows maybe his book will make it on to the NAU Conservative Book Raffle list. http://www.yaf.org/videogallery.aspx?id=403
